Most people claim Tofu lacks flavor, tasteless and boring, in fact this white substance doesn’t look very appetizing to many people, especially to kids. However, despite its boring image, tofu has loads of nutritions, it is high in calcium, iron and B vitamins, but low in fat and sodium. Tofu is a excellent source of protein too! Tofu is good for individuals who have trouble digesting meat, or suffer from medical conditions such as chronic heartburn. And you got to believe this, tofu has been credited with offering protection against diseases such as cancer and osteoporosis! The best thing is, Tofu is very cheap and sold everywhere!

Hairy gourd aslo known as small winter melon, Mao Gua, Seng Gua, fuzzy squash and hairy squash, which can cool down our body heat and provides great nutrition to our body too. Putting these two high nutrition ingredients together to make this well-known Southeast Asian Chinese cuisine, is definately a wise selection!

Ingredients:

4 piece tofu, cut into 4

1 hairy gourd, cut into 2 inch long pieces

100g mixed vegetable

8 prawn, peeled and cleaned

enough oil to fry

1 egg, beat

2 glove garlic, chopped

1/2 cup of chicken stock

handful of spring onion to garnish

1/2 tbsp corn flour mix with 2 tbsp water (corn flour mixture)

salt to taste

Let’s begin!

1. heat up a wok, add in enough oil, when the oil is super hot, add in tofu to deep fry till golden. Drain and set aside.

2. left 1 tbsp oil to fry chopped garlic, when fragrant, add in prawn, hairy gourd and mixed vegetable, stir fry till mix well.

3. add in fried tofu, pour in chicken stock and add enough salt, bring to a boil. Slowly add in the corn flour mixture and consistantly stir till it form a smooth gravy.

4. beat in an egg. Remove heat. Garnish with chopped spring onion when served.
