Well-known Pattaya Fried Noodle

Mee  Goreng  Pattaya  or  literally  means  Pattaya  Fried  Noodle,  sounds  like  a  Thai cuisine,  we  all know Pattaya  is one of the  famous city  in  Thailand,  it  is not  surprised if  you  think  this  fried  noodle is one  type of  noodle  that  originated from  Pattaya or loved by the people in Pattaya. But it is not,  instead it is a Malay cuisine! Please don’t ask me how come they  named it  Pattaya Fried Noodle, not Malacca, or Jawa, or Jakarta Fried Noodle? Seriously, i have no idea. If you know why, please share with me, I am more than happy to know it !

Let’s back to our noodle! Mee Goreng Pattaya, is actually a Fried Noodle wrapped with omelet, a single meal dish from Southeast Asia. I am sure you know what is fried noodle and what is omelet, so just add these two together and you have created Pattaya Fried Noodle! Very simple, no special skill needed to cook this Southeast Asian dish, well, actually even a “Newbie Cook” can handle it. Not believe? I will show you how simple is it!

Come, check out what we need to cook this dish:

300g yellow noodle 2 tbsp light soy sauce
6 prawn, cleaned and peeled 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 eggs 2 clove garlic, chopped
50g green mustard, chopped 2 chilies, chopped (optional)
100g chicken breast meat, sliced Salt to taste

Easy steps:

  1. heat up a pan or wok, add oil and garlic, fry till fragrant

  2. add chicken meat, prawn and 1 tbsp light soy sauce, stir fry for 1 minute

  3. add in noodle, green mustard, chilies(optional), 1 tbsp dark soy sauce and 1 tbsp light soy sauce, stir fry till well combined, add enough salt according to taste, off fire, keep aside

  4. beat 2 eggs in a bowl, heat oil in a pan, turning the pan to grease the sides, when oil is hot, add the egg, spreading it evenly.

  5. Pan fry the omelet till the top is set, add in the fried noodle in the middle of the omelet, turn off the heat

  6. remove the omelet and noodle to a plate with omelet wrapping the fried noodle. Served hot, may garnish with cucumber slices.
